Get Excited!

Image

Have you ever bought jewelry while on vacation because you loved the stones? But after getting home, the initial excitement wore off and the stone settings just began to bother you? What do you do: continue to wear the jewelry as is even though you disliked it, stick that jewelry in your jewelry box and forget about it, or work with an amazing jewelry designer to turn that mediocre jewelry into something new, stunning, or fun?

My friend Erin chose to work with an amazing jewelry designer (me). Erin purchased Mystic Topaz ovals while on vacation with her husband. She loved the stones, but disliked the settings of two earrings and a pendant... too plain and “blah.” Together we co-designed an organic, scroll-y pendant. All three stones will go into the new pendant. Now Erin will have an amazing pendant that showcases her gorgeous stones, and a new pendant that she is completely in love with.

Never give up on your jewelry!

No One’s Coming to Save Us

Image

Always willing to help, the “go-to” person of the group, always putting the needs of everyone else above her own, and great at staying calm on the outside while secretly panicking on the inside. Sound familiar? We all know someone who exhibits these characteristics, but what we often overlook is the physical and emotional burden carried by these people

When we focus on pleasing and taking care of everyone else, we can begin to neglect ourselves. Before we know it, our schedule is double and triple-booked, our stress level is through the roof, and we snap at anyone who tries to help us all while promising ourselves we won’t let this happen again. Unfortunately, we keep repeating the same cycle again and again.

Why? The three main reasons are fear of rejection, failure, and disappointment. We are afraid if we admit we are overwhelmed people won’t want to be around us. They will consider us a failure and a disappointment. We have to stop projecting our own fears on others. We are the only ones who can save ourselves by learning it’s okay to say “No.”

The Classy Yet Spicy Ring She’ll Love Now and Forever

What is the 2nd most popular diamond cut for an engagement ring? I’ll give you a few hints:

  1. It’s the most popular of the “modern” cuts of diamond.
  2. The corners make it look fancy.

You guessed it, the Princess Cut.

At Jenny Butterfield Designs, I design jewelry that’s fresh, sassy, durable, and breathtaking. Introducing Jasmine, the classy yet spicy engagement ring for the women who wants to make a statement and get noticed.

Jasmine showcases your diamond by incorporating the square-cut and rotating the stone to form a diamond shape. The unique bezel setting keeps the diamond protected from snagging on things such as clothing and doors. Available in 14kt yellow gold, 14kt white gold, 14kt rose gold, silver, or platinum. Add an extra special touch with an engraving on the interior of the ring.

Destroyer of Stereotypes

What is a stereotype? Webster’s Dictionary defines stereotype as a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. For example, if I said Librarian, did your mind envision a female in her 50’s wearing glasses?  What about a mechanic?

While we may never be able to destroy stereotypes, we shouldn’t allow them to deter us from our dreams. Factors such as our gender and age should not stop us from studying and following our true passions.  Our actions, character, and work product will help forge new opportunities for future generations.

Hopefully, one day society will learn to read a book before judging it by its cover

“Barefoot”

Image

Would you be surprised if I told you our feet are the most hardworking and neglected body part? Every day our feet enable us to run, walk, and jump. They endure being placed in a variety of shoes from high heels to flip flops. What we fail to remember is how important our feet are to our overall health.

We need to show more love to our feet by remembering a few simple things:

  1. Let them breathe. When you get home kick off those shoes and socks. Walking around barefoot let’s our feet breathe, strengthens the muscles in our feet, and improves our posture.
  2. Moisturize. If you can’t mousturize every day, try at least 3x a week. Keeping our feet moisturized eliminates dry-cracked heels, foot odor, and tiredness of the feet.
  3. Foot Massage. Sweet talk your kids, husband, boyfriend, best friend etc. into massaging your feet. If none of the above are available, then a rolling pin will work too. Massaging our feet for a few minutes each day helps relieve tension, stress, tiredness, and aches.

Life get’s crazy, so just do the best you can. Your feet, back, and mind will thank you.

Take Back your Jewelry Box

It’s the day every women dreads… the day we realize our jewelry box is overcrowded with old, broken, and worn out jewelry. As we begin to search through the box trying to remember, “Where did I get this from?” or “When was the last time I wore this piece?” Remember you can always repurpose your old jewelry into a new piece(s).

Image

My latest client is a perfect example. I was able to pull all the diamonds and sapphires from her old jewelry and create two, new sparkling and beautiful rings. (I actually made all her rings... but her pinky ring and middle-finger eternity band are her two newest rings.)

As a bonus, my client also received a credit for all her old gold.

Remember, no more settling and forgetting old, worn out jewelry. Clean out your jewelry box and let’s incorporate your jewelry into new piece(s) today!  Make sure you check out some of my custom designs.

Declaring Our Independence

Image

242 years ago, our ancestors gathered together and created a document that declared our independence from Great Britain, telling foreign nations why the colonies were separating from Great Britain. Ultimately, the colonists realized Great Britain didn’t have their best interest at heart.

Let’s follow in the footsteps of our ancestors and stop letting the opinions, goals, and visions of others determine our paths in life! What we have failed to realize is everyone bears individual responsibility for the choices made in life. One day, we will look back on our lives and determine if our “I’m glad I did” outweighs the “I wish I had”.

I believe to achieve our goals, we should constantly seek knowledge from all sources including other strong and independent individuals. Mohadesa Najumi said it best: “The woman who does not require validation from anyone is the most feared individual on the planet.”

Today, let’s declare our independence from people and situations that are oppressive, controlling, and unfair. We will no longer be afraid and will strive everyday to achieve our dreams.

Remembering an Extra Special Moment

Have you ever met a person who made time stand still? A person so precious and wonderful that words just aren’t enough? My latest client found his special person and married her one year ago. To celebrate their anniversary, we decided to create a necklace by incorporating emotionally significant elements from their wedding.

Image

The first element is the Star Gazer lilies which his bride carried down the aisle as her wedding bouquet. Star Gazer lilies symbolize several things including purity, limitless opportunities, prosperity, abundance, and financial success. My favorite is optimism in reaching your goals, even when they’re among the stars.

The second element a reminder of their wedding on a beautiful Mexican beach is a Conch shell. A Conch shell symbolizes purity, brilliance and auspiciousness. Encouraging prosperity and success for people.

The final product was an amazing necklace with a lot of emotional significance for my client and his wife. He was happy to give his wife this very sweet and thoughtful gift.

Designing and creating jewelry to help my clients express their love or celebrate important moments in their lives is my favorite part of my job. Creating the perfect jewelry piece can begin from anything, including a wax model. Have you been waiting to give someone the perfect piece of jewelry? Going Rogue

Image

A few years ago, June was the most popular month to get married in. In fact, June was known as the “Bridal Month.” Why were so many brides choosing the month of June? People believed Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage, would bless them with happiness, prosperity, and bearing children.

As the world continues to change, couples have gone rogue when it comes to traditional marriage proposals, rings, and weddings. Couples today are opting to live together before deciding to become engaged, and marriage proposals are no longer a private or intimate moment. Instead, they are an extravagant public event showcased for the world on different social media platforms.

At the center of every proposal is the ring. Couples are breaking from the traditional, princess-cut diamond ring and adding their own personal style. Unusual cut stones, birthstones, colored stones, rose gold, and open rings are a few of the latest choices. Having an affordable, custom-designed, non-snagging, durable ring is possible. Click here to see some of my custom rings.

More couples are ditching the month of June and opting for a fall wedding. September and October have now become the most popular wedding months. Wedding guests are very appreciative of the cooler temperatures.

No matter how you choose to propose, what ring you buy, or what month you decide to get married in, remember it’s okay to go rogue.
